REMEMBER: There was a TV Real Estate Guru many years ago who some credit as being the ‘father’ of the infomercial industry. During his show Ed Beckley would tell his audience, somewhat jesting, a secret (paraphrasing here): “If you ever want to be successful just look around at what a lot of other people are doing and don’t do that!”
Most prospects who visit our sales centers are dressed ‘down’ (regardless of the reasons) and when they meet a rep draped in gold necklaces, a Rolex Watch, one or more large diamond/gold rings, silk shirts/blouses, Italian designer shoes, etc., it may indeed reflect the rep’s success but to the guest, the most important person of the moment, it often sends another message: That the rep is most likely just a tad too motivated by money.
On the other hand, in the business world really wealthy people like Carlos Slim Helu, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, etc. always tone down their attire (public image) a notch or two. Taking a hint from their approach (including how Ed used to dress during his infomercials) is a lesson that can lead you laughing all the way to the bank!
