The BXG Zone!

June 25, 2010 — You may have seen the TV (or online) commercials informing viewers about the “Timeshare For Land” trade-in option, where Bluegreen Communities® is asking timeshare owners: “Are you not getting the most from your timeshare?”

On their website BXG also explains: “As a timeshare owner, you have the exclusive opportunity to apply the equity in your ownership towards the purchase of a homesite in any of our Bluegreen Communities. And for a limited time, you’ll save with special pricing!! Here’s how to get started….”

I reviewed several of those ‘homesite’ locations online and the BXG video presentations, too, and what they are offering may very well appeal to that percentage of Baby Boomers who are timeshare owners, whose vacationing lifestyle may have changed and who are looking for that retirement home (and community) for their ‘Golden Years’.

In the ‘small-print’ BXG also states: “To be eligible for this program offer, you must own your time share interest free from any liens or encumbrances, and all Maintenance Fees and Club Dues must be paid and current. Bluegreen must be able to verify the status of your ownership. All owners of the time share must participate in the equity trade. Bluegreen reserves the right not to accept an equity trade at its sole discretion. Bluegreen reserves the right to limit the amount of equity recognized in any trade. Timeshare owner is required to make a minimum upgrade purchase of $25,000 over the recognized equity. Other restrictions apply to this program, call for details.”

What those “restrictions” and “details” are I’ll leave for another time, but for now I will give BXG Executives a shout-out and kudos for being creative, thinking (refreshingly) out-of the box to come up with a marketing and sales plan that IMHO is noteworthy and appealing to timeshare owners previewing their ‘communities’. I’d bet the farm the sales staff on those lines are pleased with this approach as well.
