Bluegreen Receives 2010 Environmental Award from Cintas
Boca Raton, FL (July 5, 2010) — Bluegreen Corporation (NYSE: BXG), a leading provider of Colorful Places to Live and Play, has announced that it has received the 2010 Environmental Award from Cintas Document Management in recognition of the Boca Raton facilities program for shredding paper records and recycling.
Every week, representatives from Cintas Document Management pick up paper from Bluegreen’s corporate offices in Boca Raton, Florida and securely shred and transport these materials to the local recycling services center. The shredded documents are then compacted into 2,000-pound bales and shipped to a paper mill to be used in the production of recycled paper products. It is for this recycling effort that Bluegreen has been recognized.
“Bluegreen takes special pride in its environmental commitment and we are proud to be acknowledged by Cintas Document Management for our efforts in recycling,” says Bluegreen’s Senior Vice President, Chief HR Officer, Susan Saturday. “We are dedicated to doing what we can through our land development and various ‘green’ operating practices in our resorts to preserve and protect our environment and will continue to take the necessary measures to help promote environmental conservation.” In 2009, the Bluegreen corporate office in Boca Raton, Florida recycled more than 225 tons of paper. According to the Cintas Program, each ton of recycled paper saves 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, 7,000 gallons of water and three cubic yards of landfill space. By those calculations, in 2009 Bluegreen was credited for saving 3,825 trees, 85,500 gallons of oil, 1,575,000 gallons of water and 645 cubic yards of landfill space.
