REMEMBER: Many U.S. consumers want to (and who wouldn’t) and do purchase a brand new car every three years (or so). At today’s average price of around $28,000, they are fully prepared to spend $84,000 (excluding dealer ‘add-ons’, taxes, interest, licenses, insurance etc.) over 10-12 years just to get around in ’style’, ‘comfort’ and ‘convenience’!
Other consumers will purchase a late model used car every four or five years throughout their adult lives. At an average cost of (today’s prices) $12-K, they, too, will spend a big chunk of change just to get around in ’style’, ‘comfort’ and ‘convenience’!
Whether the consumer is buying new or used, they’re sending a loud and clear message that is ingrained in their personality, and that message is that they are freely willing to spend the bucks on ’style’, ‘comfort’ and ‘convenience’!
By comparison, a consumer can get a pretty darned good timeshare plan from most developers for (e.g.) $18-K plus the yearly fees. The savvy timeshare Pro may want to compare the cost of that new car ’style’, ‘comfort’ and ‘convenience’ to the vacation ownership lifestyle.
$28,000 @ 3 times = $84,000.00 over a 10-12 year period of driven ’style’.
TS @ $18,000 = A lifetime of vacation ’style’.
The difference between the ‘base’ price of the two is $66,000.00 and that difference, at (e.g.) $850 per year, would pay all (or most) of the annual fees of the TS plan for about 78 YEARS.
For those TS reps who may not know to do with that bit of reality, then perhaps selling vacation plans (’style’, ‘comfort’ and ‘convenience’) is not their cup of tea. But those who do, and do so correctly each and every time, they will truly be laughing all the way to the bank!
