AVON, CO (October 22,2010) — The Christie Lodge in Avon and Grand Lodge on Peak 7 in Breckenridge co-hosted the Christel House Open Charity Golf Tournament on June 7, 2010 at the Gypsum Creek Golf Club, in Gypsum, Colorado. Now in its eighth year, the global tournament took place on the same day at 18 sites in six countries. Proceeds of the Colorado tournament site were shared between Christel House International and the local charity, Roundup River Ranch.
The Tournament raised over $23,000.00 through the generous support of premium level sponsorships from Grand Lodge on Peak 7, Mountain Pride Cleaning & Restoration, and Aspen National Collections. Many teams enjoyed a great day of golfing, food, fun, and outstanding silent auctions deals from many local businesses.
On Thursday, October 14, 2010, Lisa Siegert-Free, general manager of the Christie Lodge, presented Ruth B. Johnson, chief executive officer of Roundup River Ranch, their portion of the event proceeds. Roundup River Ranch received over $7000 from the tournament; the amount received is nearly enough to send three children to camp next summer. Roundup Ranch enriches the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses by providing free, year-round camping experiences with appropriate medical care that are fun, safe and empowering. The camp is a provisional member of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, founded in 1988 by Paul Newman and is now the largest family of camps worldwide for children with serious illnesses.
Christel House International was established in 1998 with the goal of helping children around the world break the cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient, contributing members of their societies. Since then, Christel House has expanded its programs, schools, and locations to serve more than 3,000 students, their families and communities, and employ more than 250 dedicated professionals who help the children optimize their potential and achieve productive, self-sufficient lives.
