(October 20, 2010) — Kissimmee, FL-based Orange Lake Resorts, home of Holiday Inn Club Vacations, has eliminated about 120 OPC positions in an effort to consolidate and streamline its marketing efforts during the current economic crisis.
Gone are many of its “concierge” locations in Central Florida hotels, where OPCs book tours for timeshare presentations. The company plans to focus its attention on booking tours at hotels that are part of Holiday Inn’s parent company, InterContinental Hotels Group, thus reaching potential customers who are already familiar with the brand and are more likely to be amenable to Holiday Inn’s vacation club.
Orange Lake is the most recent timeshare company to scale back its resources to become more efficient in its sales and marketing efforts, in an effort to reach a more targeted market.
Not all of the OPCs at the closed locations have permanently lost their jobs, though. Some of them have been asked to rejoin the company in another capacity.
