VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (December 2, 2010) -– Gold Key/PHR has named Joanie Flynn as Vice President of Marketing & Sales. The announcement was made by Bruce Thompson, President of Professional Hospitality Resources (PHR).
In her new role, Flynn will direct the activities of the company’s internal marketing staff as well as those of PHR marketing partners and advertising agency. She will oversee all hotel marketing, including those of the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront, Ramada On The Beach, Dolphin Inn Oceanfront, Beach Quarters Resort, The Boardwalk Resort and Villas, Turtle Cay Resort and Ocean Beach Club. She will also oversee the marketing for the company’s extensive oceanfront Food & Beverage division which operates Catch 31, Salacia, SkyBar, Mahi Mahs,
Pizzeria, Rockfish, and Tortugas.
Flynn brings an extensive background in the travel and hospitality industries to the company. Most recently she was Vice President Brand Marketing for Gaylord Hotels in Nashville where she developed a new marketing division to support that company’s leisure and business marketing and its expanding roster of large resort convention hotels. While at Gaylord Flynn also helped to establish the nation’s first branded vacation home rental and resort real estate sales company. Prior to joining Gaylord, she was a marketing executive with the Leisure and Resort Marketing department at Hilton Hotels and held marketing positions at Four Seasons Hotel and Resort in Newport Beach and at L’Ermitage Hotel Group.
Flynn holds an MBA in Marketing from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She is also a member of MENG (Marketing Executives Networking Group), a membership driven organization centered on fostering growth and professionalism in marketing.
In announcing Flynn’s appointment, Thompson noted that Flynn fills a vital need in the rapidly expanding Gold Key/PHR organization. “Marketing in our industry has changed significantly in recent years and has become highly complex.
