December 3, 2010 — It is that time of year when everyone looks forward to a little extra Holiday cheer in the old pay-envelope and I thought it would be interesting to find out if the marketing and sales reps are going to spend, save or invest their holiday bonus checks this season!
And how about those ‘job-well-done’ Holiday checks from RCI and/or II for enrolling new owners into their exchange system, who then turn around and buy all those commissionable travel products such as airline tickets, cruises, rental cars, excursions, etc. as well as pay ‘em those annual dues, exchange fees, etc.? Will you spend, save or invest that well deserved bonus ‘cheer’?
Between the developers and exchange companies Christmas bonuses it will indeed be a very Merry Season for all and although they are not required to pay any bonuses it is nonetheless a long standing customary practice in ‘business’ going back generations and it makes me all warm and fuzzy knowing that our industry, too, participates in this long standing tradition.
And yes, I’m sure there may be an Ebenezer type developer here or there and maybe an exchange company, too, with the old Humbug attitude towards ‘Holiday-Bonuses’. But surely, like Scrooge ultimately did, they too will step up to the plate and participate in the annual ritual.
So e-mail and let me know if your going to spend, save or invest those motivating annual Christmas bonuses this holiday season or better yet post your ‘thanks’ here on ‘The Gate’ or visit ‘The GateHouse’ and let ‘em know how much you appreciate their good deeds.
Now on the off chance you didn’t get an annual ‘Holiday’ bonus this year, including the non-cash variety such as a complimentary dinner for two, a free weekend get-away at one of your developer’s (or exchange company’s) resorts, a bottle of decent wine, etc. feel free to let us know that as well.
And if you do happen to fall into that category, especially if you have a family (spouse, significant other, children, etc.) to support, do not despair ’cause maybe the check has been delayed in the mail or maybe this year the bonuses will be passed out during the annual company Christmas bash! Right?
