Get your day off to the right start with your own MORNING MEETING. A Sales Tip of the Day and a daily blast of music for your enjoyment! Published Monday thru Friday.
REMEMBER: Likely 70% + of the people working, any TS sales lines are pretty much only marking time (aka: hanging out) and as long as they can hold their positions and pay the bills, etc. that is about as far as they’ll ever desire to go in our industry.
Another 10-20% are doing more to improve their selling skills, etc. but they surely aren’t going out of their way to reach peak performance and are more than satisfied with their income and lives!
So be it for both groups and God Bless ’em!
But there are those few, even those reps who aren’t excelling ‘today’, who have a real desire to be the best that they can, close more deals and improve the quality of their (and family) lives. It is for you few that I highly recommend, but do not limit to, the following.
1. Invest in yourself first and foremost and read all these MM’s. You may not agree w/the content, which is fine, but inside each MM is a ‘key’ to your success and all you have to do is adapt that clue to your own personal selling style, mannerisms and sales center.
2. Stop listening to bad advice like “a sale is made every time” and other such garbage. When you hear that stuff it is likely coming from a SM/PD or developer who really isn’t taking into account the ‘big-picture’ (aka: sales realities). You may have to ‘listen’ during a sales meeting but then flush the trash out of your mind as fast as possible.
3. Also say as far away as you can from sales reps who’d rather drink coffee (when not on tour) and ‘bitch’ about this, that or the other thing. The saying that misery loves company is oh so true, so stay away, as much as possible– a good football field away– (although always be cordial) from them and instead associate with like-thinking positive reps whose association will help improve your skills and outlook.
4. Lastly (for today) never worry about ‘money’ (commissions). Instead focus your efforts on providing each sales guest the best, most thorough, upbeat and positive presentation you can and then improve those skills daily/weekly/monthly. By doing so you’ll get better as each day goes by and laugh all the way to the bank.
