The sad reality is that there remain a number of unscrupulous operators in the marketplace. This meant that it was important for both of these developers to be associated with a company that is trustworthy and professional as well as being both RDO and TATOC affiliated.
The move shows that developers’ views of resales are gradually changing. Without a resale service, a natural exit for members whose needs may have changed are increasingly more difficult. Those changing needs of owners are varied, such as children growing up and moving out of the family home, weakened family finances or perhaps the dissolution of a marriage. Whatever the reasons, they highlight the misconception about resales; i.e. that people want to sell their timeshare because they dont like the product.
Nothing could be further from the truth and the facts back this up. A 2010 survey commissioned in the U.S. by the ARDA International Foundation (AIF) entitled Shared Vacation Ownership Owners Report discovered that 84% of owners surveyed are satisfied with the product. In fact, about one person in six surveyed bought traditional timeshare on the resale market, with using an online timeshare resales listing company topping the list of resale methods mentioned in the report.
