Finalizes 2011 Strategic Plan, Selects 2011 Richard Gallardo Award Winner, and Finalizes Plans for 52th Semi-Annual Conference
Harrisonburg VA (February 23, 2011) — The Cooperative Association of Resort Exchangers (C.A.R.E.) held its annual 1st Quarter Board of Directors’ meeting on February 4th and 5th, 2011.
The annual meeting hosted by Lifestyles Holiday Vacation Club at their all inclusive property in Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, was attended by the C.A.R.E. Board of Directors including Jeanette Bunn, Vice President, Tina Hill, Vice President, Linda Mayhugh, Vice President, Deborah Sansom, Secretary, James Wehrle, Vice President, Deb Mongan, Vice President, and Bonnie Kosco, Immediate Past President. The purpose of the meeting was to review and finalize all committee actions and plans for 2011. Vice President, Dave Dawson and Treasurer Vicki DiFabio were not able to attend.
C.A.R.E.’s Strategic Planning Committee reviewed and updated the 2010 Strategic Plan thus creating the direction for 2011. The plan identifies external and internal operating environments that affect C.A.R.E. and the resulting strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats facing the organization. After evaluating this information, the committee established goals, objectives and strategies, and developed an action plan. The action plan was presented to the Board of Directors and accepted. Additional measures were also taken to monitor and prompt progress on the tasks assigned to respective Board members throughout the year. The Strategic Plan and an Executive Summary of the Plan will be posted to C.A.R.E.’s website by March 15, 2011.
The Board also discussed the agenda for C.A.R.E.’s 52nd Semi-Annual Conference to be held this spring in Deerfield Beach, Florida from May 14th- 17th, 2011. Particular attention was made to allow time for distinguished guest speakers that will provide important industry updates for C.A.R.E. and a special evening event that Travel Advantage Network has prepared that is unique and will create great networking opportunities.
The Board of Directors also selected the 2011 recipient of the Richard Gallardo Award and discussed the presentation of the 2011 Pinnacle Award. The Richard Gallardo award is given of recognition of outstanding volunteer service to C.A.R.E. The award was created in honor of Richard Gallardo, husband of C.A.R.E.’s first President, Kathleen Gallardo, who tirelessly served C.A.R.E. in numerous capacities for many years. The Board of Directors will announce their selection at the spring conference. Nominations for the Pinnacle Award will be accepted through March 15, 2011.
