Home Resort

Get your day off to the right start with your own MORNING MEETING. Timeshare Sales Tip of the Day and a daily blast of music for your enjoyment! Published Monday thru Friday.

REMEMBER: Often timeshare reps will find one or more reasons to believe the grass is greener somewhere else. Although that may be true, such as a different timeshare plan to sell, sales systems, sales management style, tour qualifications, benefits, commissions and bonuses, etc., the one aspect that really never matters is the quality, or lack thereof, of that ‘home’ resort reps are selling, the amenities and so forth.

That is why it is critically important for every timeshare rep to actually do the research required (or physically visit) and know, in as much detail as possible, what other vacation lifestyles (suite sizes, amenities, etc.) are available at several resorts in multiple regions that ‘their’ owners can use in the exchange system.

There is one sales crew, for example, where the reps only have a very small cramped 2-bedroom unit that is about 500 square feet to ‘tour’. Along with being small and not well lit, it also has hard and very unattractive bare-bone furnishings and only a mini-frig, two gas burners, one toaster and a coffee pot in the tiny kitchen. That is it (believe it or not)!

Yet, that sales team, for years, maintains a YTD (team) VPG exceeding $3,300 (not bad) because they have been trained to ‘pitch’ not so much their home resort but the opportunity to live the “luxury” by exchanging at wonderful resorts around the world and to do so w/o incurring the traditional costs of owning at a high-cost timeshare resort.

This group even warns their prospects before going on tour that although the grounds, etc. are very nice the ’suites’ leave a lot to be desired. They actually instruct their sales guests, just before they leave for the ‘tour’ and in a somewhat light hearted and joking manner, not to hold that against them.

At the end of the day they sell the idea to live the luxury without incurring the expense. And because they do so and the guests are prepared for the model tour, etc., the cramped and downright unattractive units rarely become an issue and the savvy timeshare Pros at this sales center are laughing all the way to the bank.
