Panning

Get your day off to the right start with your own MORNING MEETING. Timeshare Sales Tip of the Day and a daily blast of music for your enjoyment! Published Monday thru Friday.

REMEMBER: During the gold-rush era back in the 1800’s untold thousands of wanna-be miners chucked (or sold) everything they owned to come up with a grubstake and headed off to areas unknown, with many staking out a spot along a riverbed reported or rumored to hold a fortune in gold.

History tells us that most miners lost everything and became destitute because by the time they got to the ‘river’ they were a dollar short and a day late. So after spending a brief time at a ‘hot spot’ panning for gold they kept pulling up their stakes and moved onto the next ’strike’, only to repeat their previous results.

And that is the way it often is in timeshare sales centers where reps seeking that ‘gold-ball’ tour attempt to ‘feel out’ (pan) the prospect, and if they think there is no glitter there off the rep goes to the next tour. And like the aforementioned miners, that approach is, the vast majority of the time, a grave error.

Many gold miners did, however, get a small piece of the pie because they stuck it out on those river banks while the majority moved on, and although they didn’t make their desired fortunes they often not only recouped their initial investment (grubstake) they put a few extra dollars in their pockets and were able to return to ‘civilization’ with a little nest egg.

And that is exactly how the timeshare rep should handle each and every prospect because even writing ‘Mickeys’ will pay out over time, will keep the sales rep’s skills honed, etc., and along with picking up a ‘flake of gold’ here and there occasional nuggets will come down the river and when that happens the savvy Timeshare Pro will laugh all the way to the bank.
