Harrisonburg, VA (June 3, 2012) — The Cooperative Association of Resort Exchangers held its 54th Semi- annual conference this May 5-8, 2012 at the Sirata Beach Resort & Conference Center in St. Pete Beach, Florida. In addition to surpassing conference attendance from their previous conference in Chicago, meaningful philanthropic activities, exciting educational and networking experiences and Board of Directors’ elections took place.
Prior to the start of the conference there was a tremendous C.A.R.E. Gives Back event with Send Me On Vacation at the Susan Sheppard McGillicuddy Breast Cancer Center- St. Anthony’s Hospital. Conference attendees were able to participate in the donation of 10 CD players and headphone sets to the A Music Therapy CD Library and awarded two breast cancer survivors with a vacation with TV coverage from an ABC affiliate.
The C.A.R.E. Boards of Directors’ elections were also held and the President, Secretary and Treasurer, as well as two Vice Presidents were elected for three year terms. Alain Carr, American Resorts International, was elected for his second as President, Debbie Sansom, ICS Management, was elected as Secretary and Vicki DiFabio, Tartan Management, was elected as Treasurer. Debbie Sansom has served as Secretary since 1994 and Vicki DiFabio was elected as Treasurer for her third term. James Wehrle, VIP Travel Club, was re-elected as Vice President and has served since 2004. Dave Dawson, Global Connections, was also re-elected for his second term as Vice President.
According to President Alain Carr, “I am very excited to have this veteran team on board to continue to support C.A.R.E.‘s growth. We have a wealth of experience and knowledge seated on the Board and I know C.A.R.E.’s future is bright because of the volunteer efforts of these industry professionals and leaders dedicate to the organization. We have many projects on the table and it’s great to personally have a chance to keep the work going on them.”
C.A.R.E. (www.care-online.org) is a non-profit trade association founded over 27 years ago with members in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia. The association offers over 2,500 vacation properties and services over one million vacation owners and members. The C.A.R.E. member base of over 150 companies is comprised of resort developers and service companies, property management firms, homeowners associations, rental and exchange organizations and travel clubs engaged within the vacation industry whose goal is to offer members the tools to provide outstanding vacation services while committed to the highest standards and ethics.
