Florida timeshare condominium complex completes eco-friendly furniture renovation, saves 90 percent CO2 emissions compared to buying new
ALPHARETTA, GA (July 17, 2012) — The Dover House Resort, a division of Landex Resorts International Inc., a vacation and timeshare condominium complex based in Delray Beach, Florida, has completed a refinishing and sustainability project led by The Refinishing Touch. The project involved refinishing guest room furniture by updating wood colors and laminate replacements, including dining tables, nightstands, armoires, dressers, built-ins and headboards.
The Refinishing Touch is a world leader in furniture asset management, refinishing, re-upholstering and armoire modification for hospitality, higher education and government facilities. The company’s hospitality industry experience spans multinational hotels brands and resorts.
The entire project was completed on-site to minimize environmental impact and reduce costs. This was achieved through The Refinishing Touch’s unique refinishing services and methods: a non-toxic, non-flammable, low VOC (volatile organic compounds) process that allows furniture to be refinished on-site with minimum room downtime.
The project is part of The Dover House Resort’s sustainability commitments, which include upgrades of all lighting to energy-efficient mercury vapor light bulbs; installation of new water-efficient plumbing fixtures: and the use of green-certified cleaning products. The complex is working toward longer-term sustainability goals as well, such as solar heating for its outdoor pool, energy-efficient water heaters and heating/air conditioning systems in each timeshare condominium, as well as ambiance-lighting gauges.
Robyn A. Rocco, community association manager for Landex Resorts International, said, “We wanted to partner with a furniture refinishing company that appreciated the need to be sustainable, time and cost-efficient. We also found the simplicity of working with one company that could provide all the expertise, materials and services to be of benefit. The Refinishing Touch’s expert team worked with us to refinish and transform our timeshare condominium into a tropical oasis; making it more modern, sleek, and sustainable with the re-use and refinishing of our existing furniture.”
Mario Insenga, founder and president of The Refinishing Touch, said: “It’s a mutually rewarding experience to work with a team such as that at The Dover House Resort to help them fulfill their sustainability, budget and design objectives. Our role was to preserve existing investments in key furniture assets across the resort and to refurbish these elements in line with The Dover House’s look and feel, to create an inviting, modern and eco-friendly environment. Our parallel goal was to ensure the project was also fiscally responsible and in line with the resort’s budgets, which is part of our offering. We consistently save our clients up to 80 percent of the cost of new furniture by refinishing existing furniture assets.”
