August 31, 2012 — With the passing of Jerry Sikes and in honor of his endless and tireless work and contributions to make our industry and ARDA (American Resort Development Association) a better ‘place’, I am encouraging every reader of ‘Inside The Gate’ who is not a current ARDA member to join the association.
So here’s the scoop. As of this writing ARDA has an almost unbelievable opportunity with their “Summer Sweet Deal Sale” membership drive whereby a company can join the association for a very attractive 88% discount, making today one of the best times ever to become an active ARDA member.
Let me make it perfectly clear that ARDA does not know (well, they do know) that I am promoting their “Summer Sweet Deal Sale”. And the fact of the matter is, for readers who don’t know, I have taken a lot of ‘shots’ at the Association (and industry/developers) over the years so my recommendation is not from someone just drinking the Kool Aid, so to speak!
However having now reflected on all of Jerry’s (and others) contributions over many years I have come to the conclusion that his (and others) approach to not only being a member, but to be actively involved in all ARDA conventions, meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences, etc. is a far better way to improve things than the course I (and others) took which was, at times, to be a whiner, moaner and/or complainer.
At one time I was indeed an ARDA member and once a Guest Speaker, too, at an annual convention. But I should have followed Jerry’s (and others) example and instead of holding his robe while he was in the ‘ring’, so to speak, I, too, should have become involved in (e.g.) committees, etc. and contributed in a more positive way to the growth and future of our industry.
As Jerry once wrote, when he was a weekly contributor to “The Timeshare Beat” for many years, there is no shortage of: “Work Left to Do”.
So join me and take ARDA up on their tremendous discount and connect with the association today because the ‘special’ is currently scheduled to expire at midnight (tonight) August 31, 2012.
And maybe, if you are running a couple days late (past August 31st) and still want to take advantage of the ARDA special discount and if you let them know (e.g.) that you just now heard about their offer they’ll still (hopefully) honor the rate. Not saying they will, but if you don’t ask you’ll never know.
You might also want to forward this week’s ‘Scoop’ to others you may know who’ve thought about joining the Association so that they, too, can take advantage of the ARDA discount offer.
So get involved today, help out, lend a hand, become a ‘game-changer’ and industry/ARDA ‘player’ like Jerry (and others) and help make the future of the ‘biz’ an even brighter place!
And for those of you industry folks who don’t join then until you do please keep your negative ARDA opinions where they belong and that is to (fill in the blanks)!
Follow this link: http://arda.org/membership/joinarda/overview.aspx; make a difference & join ARDA today
If they pulled that link here is a direct link to the pdf file; fill it out, cut the check (or cc info), fax it in and take it from there!
And ‘if’ that pdf link has been pulled then e-mail me and I’ll e-mail you a hard copy of the form with the discounted rates etc. and you can try that approach, because as I said, if you don’t ask you’ll never know and when it comes to saving thousands of dollars ‘I’m all about asking’!
