ORLANDO, FL (March 13, 2013) — For the third consecutive year, Wyndham Vacation Ownership (WVO) has been honored for excellence with top timeshare industry awards by Perspective magazine at the Global Networking Expo (GNEX 2013). WVO won for their innovative approach and exceptional performance in the areas of recruiting, marketing, finance and leadership.
The WVO Hospitality Learning and Development (L&D) Team was named Best Project Team at the recent awards gala. In an effort to create a new approach to increase the internal candidate talent pool for assistant resort manager positions within the company, the team invented the Resort Operations Leadership Experience (ROLE) Academy – a 6-month intensive training program which immerses candidates within three core disciplines: guest services, housekeeping, and maintenance.
“These awards are truly a testament of our world-class talent at WVO, and I am proud to work alongside such talented individuals,” said Sarah King, executive vice president, Human Resources, WVO. “Our associates are our most important asset, and I am pleased that they are being recognized for the exceptional work they do each and every day.”
Kelvin Smith, Marketing Manager at Wyndham Myrtle Beach, was also recognized as Best Individual Marketing Professional for always achieving success by keeping expectations high and the vision straightforward for his team. Kelvin produced the second-highest overall penetration within the entire company last year, and combined with the year-over-year increase of tours and revenue, achieved record Net Operating Income (NOI) for the Myrtle Beach site.
Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific (WVRAP) was also recognized with two awards. Barry Robinson, WVRAP Managing Director, claimed the Best Industry Leader title for his effective, respected and success-driven style of leadership. The WVRAP Consumer Finance team also won a second consecutive Best Financial Services award after claiming the same coveted title last year.
The awards recognize industry professionals and companies in the international vacation ownership industry and are judged by a panel of judges as well as industry peers, and were announced during a gala ceremony last week at the third annual GNEX conference in Beverly Hills, CA.
GNEX 2013 attracted 200 of the most innovative and entrepreneurial vacation ownership industry leaders to Beverly Hills where they shared ideas and debated key issues for the year ahead.
