San Diego, CA (July 19, 2013) — Travel To Go, a leader in providing luxurious vacations to its members at affordable prices, will sponsor the Las Vegas show of The Almanac Singers. The concert tour is in commemoration of the original group that was popular in 1941.
The original group of musical labor activists crossed the country using old folk melodies to tell stories of the time. They played in union halls, on picket lines, theatres and radio shows. The Almanac Singers (www.almanactrail.com) went on to become an inspiration for “musicians, free-thinkers, gasoline gypsies and paved the way for many of today’s singers/songwriters.” Some of their original songs such as “Union Maid,” “Talking Union” and “Which Side Are You On” were some of the greatest labor songs ever written.
This summer, with the guidance of founder Pete Seeger and the Woody Guthrie archives, “Totem Pole” Rik Palieri and George Mann are crossing the country and singing at some of the same places and towns as the original tour. Travel To Go is the sponsor of the free July 24 concert at the Pioneer Saloon in Las Vegas. The show will be a labor and history event in story and song and appropriate for the whole family.
Travel To Go continues to be a supporter of many philanthropic and charitable causes including the Wounded Warrior Project, the San Diego Muscular Dystrophy Association, the YWCA and Send Me On Vacation.
The company offers travel benefits and services to a loyal customer base of 50,000 members and over the course of its 23 years in the vacation industry is recognized as an industry leader. For more information about Travel To Go, visit www.traveltogo.com
