BUSHKIILL, PA (January 17, 2014) — Bushkill Group Inc. in partnership with Pocono 96.7 have created the Tubing For Charity fundraiser designed to raise over $75,000 for Monroe County non-profit organizations. Andy Worthington, President and CEO of Bushkill Group Inc. said, “We have invited 15 non-profit organizations to participate in our Tubing for Charity fundraiser. By participating, these organizations can raise $5,000 each for their cause.”
Created and organized by Holly Freeman, Special Projects Director for the Bushkill Group, each of the organizations is given 625 discount coupons for snowtubing at White Lightning snowtubing at the Fernwood Winter Fun Center. Each coupon includes the charity’s logo, information about its fundraising efforts and its mission and can be redeemed for snowtubing on non-holiday Sundays beginning January 5, 2014. Freeman said, “The coupons are valid for $10 off of the purchase of a snowtubing ticket beginning at 3:00 pm on Sundays. Tickets are normally $28 each so this represents a savings of over 35%. We thought that offering a great discount would give families a chance to get out and play in the snow at a significant savings with the added benefit of generating donations for very worthy Monroe County organizations.”
Charities selected to participate include the East Stroudsburg Salvation Army, VALOR, the Pocono YMCA, the Gregory Moyer Defibrillator Fund, Monroe County Special Olympics, Fitzmaurice Community Services, VNA Hospice of Monroe, Mady’s Angels, Bushkill Emergency Corps, Pocono Services for Families and Children, Notre Dame High School, Monroe County Special Olympics, Pius X High School, and Notre Dame Elementary School. Freeman continues, “From each coupon redeemed, we will donate $8 to the charity named. If all of the coupons are used, it will represent a $75,000 contribution in total.”
Partnered with Gary Smith of Gary in the Morning on Pocono 96.7, charities and organizations will have the opportunity to go on the air and talk about their efforts and contribution to helping people in Monroe County. Smith says, “We do a great deal to raise awareness of events and organizations by providing an on air forum that assists with getting the word out to the community. Whether it is a special event, a public service awareness campaign or general information about a charity, we pride ourselves at being the only local radio station to provide community access and programming.” As co-sponsors of Tubing for Charity, Pocono 96.7 is donating air time and a location for people to pick up coupons in support of the organizations. Freeman says, “The success of this event will be in how well organizations can get their coupons distributed and redeemed. Gary and his weekly promotional announcements will play a big party in making that possible.”
Freeman concludes, “We will run the Tubing for Charity Sundays through the end of March using either White Lightning Snowtubing or if the weather turns warm, which doesn’t really seem possible when it is as cold as it has been, using Blue Lightning all season tubing. No matter which facility, we will give the charities as many Sundays as possible to raise the money. In fact if it is a success, we are considering continuing it in the spring using our new Blue Lightning tubing park.”
To pick up coupons for Tubing for Charity, stop by the Pocono 96.7 station offices at 23 North 5th Street in Stroudsburg, PA or contact the participating organizations directly.
