Islands of Loreto, Baja (August 05, 2014) — Anglers can make the dream of “hooking the big one” a reality with a new sport fishing package from Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto that will allow fishermen access to an array of reef-dwelling and migratory fish in waters that are among the richest in the world.
World-renowned for sport fishing, the indigo waters of the Sea of Cortez were dubbed “The Aquarium of the World” by Jacques Cousteau because they are home to nearly 1,000 species of fish. The Islands of Loreto are a gold mine for big game fishing enthusiasts and first-timers alike.
Late summer and fall signifies an excellent time to hook Dorado, also known as Mahi Mahi, and September even brings with it the Copa Dorado Loreto Fishing Tournament. It is also prime time to catch Grouper, Snappers, Stripe Marlin and Yellowfin Tuna, with colorful fish flying out of the water and landing in a frying pan. Guests can savor their catch by bringing it back to the resort to have the resort’s chefs prepare it for that evening’s dinner.
“With world-renowned sport fishing year-round, the Islands of Loreto is the premier location for big game sport fishing enthusiasts,” said Owen Perry, co-owner and president, Villa Group. “Guests can chase their next big catch in luxury aboard Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto’s ‘Mad Dash’ tournament boat.”
Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto’s sport fishing package includes a three-night, four-day stay in a Deluxe Studio Suite, nonstop airfare from LAX on Alaska Airlines and one day of fishing aboard the resort’s Mad Dash Luhrs 32-foot Tournament boat (with two people minimum required). The package also includes bait, a boxed lunch and beverages during the excursion, and a sport fishing license, which is required to fish within the federally protected Bay of Loreto National Marine Park.
Also included in the package is a $25 USD credit per person for use at the resort’s 39,000 square-foot Sabila Spa, a state-of-the-art facility where guests can relax and unwind with a massage or soak in a soothing sauna, just one of the features of its fully-equipped wet areas.
In addition, guests who book the package will have access to one hour of free kayaking and paddle boarding, which are must-do activities to help explore the nearby islands.
The total package cost is $1,269.00 USD per person and is based on double occupancy. Airfare must be booked 45 days prior to departure, for travel between now and October 8, 2014.
With more than 100 miles of coastline, 300 sunny days a year and year-round surface temperatures averaging in the 80s, the 800-square-mile Loreto National Marine Park is a fisherman’s paradise.
