October 10, 2014 — From the deepest, darkest and ubiquitous nature of Cyberspace – better known as the massive worldwide web or the Internet (there is a difference) – a place in time and dimension consisting of hundreds of millions of websites and billions of users – it is not an easy undertaking – not even for companies with deep marketing pockets – to crawl out from the primordial soup of being invisible in the virtual universe.
So Here’s The Scoop: Take little old Inside The Gate (ITG) for example. Last month (September 2014), as verified by AWStats Analytics (an independent website monitoring company) we broke another readership record and generated 121,469 individual readers who collectively consumed 39.22 GB of bandwidth while pouring over 782,083 page views (PV).
And, as the crowd ‘cheers’ let it also be known that among ITG’s global audience the lion’s share includes Timeshare Developers, Executive Management, all levels of Sales and Marketing Professionals and Ancillary Business Owners, including Timeshare Owners/Members, etc.
Keep in mind for the moment that we are a rather small industry and according to the ARDA (American Resort Developments Association) website: “ARDA has almost 1,000 corporate members ranging from privately held firms to publicly traded corporations with extensive experience in shared ownership interests in leisure real estate. The membership also includes timeshare owner associations (HOAs), resort management companies, industry vendors, suppliers, and consultants; as well as owners through the ARDA Resort Owners Coalition (ARDA-ROC).”
Now on the one hand ITG’s audience may not seem very impressive, especially when compared to the online Giants like (e.g.) Google, etc. Yet on the other hand when you consider how truly small our industry is – and that we are a niche online publication catering to a very specialized interest & marketplace – well, then our audience numbers are a tad more impressive.
Added to that is ITG’s monthly average ranking by Alexa, a subsidiary of publicly held Amazon.com, where ITG is ranked and has remained mostly within the window of being the 187,343 (±) to about the 389,495 (±) most visited website in the USA or an average USA monthly of about the 288,419 (±) most visited (trafficked) website in the entire country.
Again, on the one hand being in 288,419th ‘place’ doesn’t seem very impressive, but on the other hand according to the SBA (Small Business Administration) there are approximately “23 million small businesses” in the United States — and it’s pretty darn likely that at least 1/2 to 3/4 of those companies have an active company website showcasing their products and/or services, etc.
So, if only 50% of those companies (12.5 Million) have active websites – and because Alexa crawls all websites – then to my way of thinking ITG being the 288,419th most popular out those 12,500,000 other websites means – and check my math – ITG is ranked in the top 2.3% of all websites in the USA.
Sure, there are many other websites within that category (top 2.3%) but ITG is a niche and specialized daily online timeshare news and information publication serving mostly the folks in our industry – who demand reliable daily content.
And unlike most of those other 12.5 Million businesses online in the USA our audience is global, and in that arena it is estimated worldwide that there are hundreds of millions of active websites out ‘there’. According to “Internet Live Stats” a milestone was achieved in 2014 with just over 1 Billion “websites online right now” – yes, that was the ‘B’ word.
If that is true then based on our average monthly Alexa Global Rank (popularity) ITG is ranked in the top 1% (±) of the most visited (trafficked) websites on the whole gosh darn planet; and though that ranking will vary slightly from time to time it ain’t too darn shabby of a ranking for a niche publication.
Also, according to Alexa the number one search term (phrase) people use that leads them to discover ITG is Timeshare News; try it in Google for yourself and you’ll see we are the first – at the top of the google search results – page one!
For those people only interested in timeshare-themed blogs who merely (e.g.) google Timeshare Blog or Timeshare Blogs they discover our ITG GateHouse Blog section in the number one slot on the first page of Google – with nearly one million other TS Blog results below ITG.
The point is this: If your company is seeking to hire top executives at all management levels — including the best sales and marketing reps — or if your company has products and/or services you need to present to the ‘deciders’ in our industry, then ITG is the place to help you meet your business goals and objectives.
