BOCA RATON, FL (August 10, 2015) –– Bluegreen Corporation (“Bluegreen Vacations” or “Bluegreen”), today announced that their four annual charity golf tournaments have raised over $133,000 in 2015 for Christel House, JDRF and local charities in Branson, MO.
The Boca tournament was held on May 16th at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The event hosted 106 golfers and raised net proceeds of $70,321.76.
“Each year, an extremely generous group of individuals and businesses support us at the Boca tournament events. The Friday night casino and silent auction at the Boca tournament were huge successes and we and the Golf Committee are so thankful for the sponsors of that event,” said Ellen Devine and Martha Storey, co-chairs for the Boca Raton tournament.
Daytona Beach hosted their 9th Annual RCI Christel House Open on Sunday, June 7th at the LPGA International, hosting 56 golfers. A casino night and silent auction were held at Bluegreen’s Daytona SeaBreeze resort on Saturday evening June 6th, raising net proceeds of $15,000.
Myrtle Beach also partnered up for the 13th Annual RCI Christel House Open on Monday, June 8th, where 100 golfers helped to raise net proceeds of $21,000.
Additionally, in Branson they participated in the Christel House Open for their 3rd year on June 18th, hosting 88 golfers and raising $27,000 for Christel House, with 10% of those proceeds being donated to three local charities; H.O.P.E. (Helping Overcome Pediatric Emergencies); C.A.M. (Christian Action Ministries) and Wreaths Across America, Springfield Chapter.
“Bluegreen has been hosting charity golf tournaments benefitting Christel House since 2000,” furthered Ellen Devine and Martha Storey, Bluegreen Associates who head up the South Florida event. “Our first golf tournament had 50 golfers who helped raise $5,000. The second year 91 golfers helped raise $10,000. Christel DeHaan, Christel House founder, visited our third annual charity golf tournament, which we believe helped set the stage for her organization to expand internationally. Since then, Christel House has grown their tournaments to over 1,500 golfers at 13 tournament sites on four continents.”
“Events of this nature have been a long-standing tradition for Bluegreen and guide us on our journey to social responsibility and ‘giving back,” commented Tony Puleo, Bluegreen’s Chief Financial Officer. “Sponsors and golfers keep coming back year after year, and we are pleased to support Christel House, JDRF, and other local charities and organizations in the communities in which we do business.”
