MANCHESTER, U.K. (August 5, 2015) — TATOC, The Timeshare Association (Timeshare Owners and Committees), TATOC, has announced that The Burnside Park Owners Club in the U.K.’s Lake District has achieved TATOC resort accreditation status.
Launched in 2008, TATOC resort accreditation gives independent recognition to resorts that continue to meet the highest standards of holiday experience for guests and owners alike.
This prestigious award acknowledges TATOC member resorts that are truly customer-driven and willing to commit to the many requirements of the Timeshare Association’s Codes of Conduct and Practice
Resorts who apply for TATOC Accreditation undergo an extensive on-site inspection and audit. The process is robust and comprehensive as the Association believes it is essential the award is seen to be hard earned and meaningful.
TATOC board director and accreditor, Geoff Chapman, undertook the accreditation process at Burnside in June 2015. He explained: “I am delighted that Burnside Park achieved the coveted status of TATOC Accredited Resort. My overall view of this lovely resort was that it had a warm and friendly atmosphere, with beautiful grounds and in a beautiful location, and is well managed by a team dedicated to the customer experience.”
Harry Taylor, TATOC CEO and executive chairman added: “The TATOC Accredited Resort flag flying at a resort gives owners, prospective purchasers, as well as exchange visitors and guests, an assurance that, judged from a consumer standpoint, the holiday experience provided is one of real value.”
Lisa Holden, resort manager, explained why the resort had chosen to apply for TATOC resort accreditation: “The Burnside Park Owners Club Management Committee decided that accreditation by TATOC would be rewarding for its owners and exchange guests alike as this would be independent recognition that, as a high quality, well-managed resort, we have a positive, forward-looking approach and commitment to them.”
The Burnside Park Owners Club is nestled in the heart of England’s Lake District, just 300 meters from the shore of Lake Windermere. The resort has been providing luxury self-catering accommodation for more than 20 years and prides itself on the quality of its cottages.
The adjoining Burnside Hotel provides the use of an extensive indoor leisure complex. The town of Bowness, just a few hundred yards from the resort, offers first class services with shops, galleries, a cinema, and a theatre.
Hapimag took over the ownership and management of the resort with its existing timeshare contracts in 2008. Today, timeshare owners are still using 37 of the 46 apartments, with the remaining units available to Hapimag guests.
In addition to TATOC accreditation, the resort has been awarded a Visit England 4-star Quality in Tourism award and an RCI Gold Crown rating.
The Timeshare Association (Timeshare Owners and Committees), known as TATOC, was formed 25 years ago and is the only elected consumer association representing the interests of timeshare owners in Europe.
The mission of TATOC is to safeguard and enhance the timeshare holiday experience for existing and prospective users and to be the voice of owners. In recent years, TATOC has focused not only on increasing the membership base but also raising the profile of the Association, establishing TATOC as the recognised voice of the timeshare consumer and an informed point of contact.
The Association is now a regular contributor to the consumer press and works closely with the UK’s Trading Standards offices, law enforcement and other authorities. TATOC CEO Harry Taylor is regularly interviewed on national radio and features in the industry press.
The TATOC accreditation team considers aspects such as:
- The standard of accommodation, grounds and leisure facilities;
- The marketing that brought a guest or owner to the resort complex;
- The health, fire and safety standards at the resort;
- The sales practices at the resort; and
- The customer service levels provided by the resort.
