June 2, 2017 — Simple, undeniable and as most of us understand from our own experiences as well as what history has clearly illustrated: “All good things come to an end”. To my way of thinking that maxim from around the 1300’s (AD/CE) warns us all and means exactly what it says, yet I’m one of those people who often continues about my daily routine as if the ‘ride’ of life, love, business and friendships, etc. will last forever.
So Here’s The Scoop: And that brings me to another dictum from a time several hundred years before Jesus Christ was physically among the people ministering, etc. This next saying, attributed to Socrates, was allegedly uttered during his trial when he reportedly told the ruling class in court one day that: “The unexamined life is not worth living.”
As a reminder, like other people throughout time Socrates did not play well with the ‘authorities’ and after adjudicating his ramblings those authorities put the Greek Philosopher to death for impiety and corrupting people’s minds for speaking, writing and/or sharing his views with the public at large. You know – voicing his opinion (aka: free speech) to the masses and that darn thinking outside of the box thingy.
And speaking of teachings & lessons in life; in the King James Version of the Old Testament – Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 cautions us that: “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted…”
Recently those proclamations (and others) caused me to wonder what would all the timeshare developers, all the marketing folks, all the management types, all the front-end reps, the closers, the podium chatters, the VLO’s (or CVO) and the F/B’ers (front to backers) etc. do ‘IF’, with absolute certainty, we knew the 2017 summer session would be the grand finale – as in the very last selling season?
I suppose our reactions and options etc. would be quite varied but with ‘time’ being unstoppable and considering all the unexpected or unknown events of all the ‘tomorrows’ rolling our way this just might be the best time ever to make hay while the sun shines.
Hey, I’m just thinking out loud…
