Timeshare People on the Move: July 15, 2017

Thomas R. Nelson, current President and Chief Operating Officer for Orange Lake Resorts will be promoted to Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1. Nelson will hold the title President and CEO and will succeed Don L. Harrill, who will transition from his current role as CEO to take on a new role as Vice Chairman of the Board of Orange Lake Resorts by year’s end.

Formerly a Partner with Arthur Andersen, in a career that spans 30 years and many executive positions, Nelson joined Orange Lake Resorts in 2003 as Chief Financial Officer. In 2013, he was promoted to his current role of President and Chief Operating Officer and was a key driver on the executive team. Nelson and Harrill partnered to lead the formation of the Intercontinental Hotels Group alliance which created the Holiday Inn Club Vacations brand and the company’s strategic growth plan; expanding the organization’s resort footprint across the United States. Most recently Nelson led the company’s initiative to acquire and integrate Silverleaf Resorts.

Don Harrill has served as the company’s highly accomplished CEO since 2005, leading the organization through 12 years of consecutive record growth and becoming a key voice within the timeshare industry. His vision was instrumental in reshaping Orange Lake Resorts from a single-site timeshare developer and operator into one of the industry’s leading firms. Key to these accomplishments has been the creation of a unique vacation membership club and a strategic alliance with worldwide leader in hospitality, Intercontinental Hotels Group.

Not only has the company enjoyed incredible financial gains under Harrill’s leadership, but also, through his knowledge and passion he also led the expansion of the company’s community outreach and philanthropic efforts; launching many new corporate-giving programs and re-energizing their founder Kemmons Wilson’s tradition of caring.



Pam Cordell has been promoted to Vice President of New Business Development for National Hospitality Group, the parent company of timeshare management companies Defender Resorts, SPM Resorts and Capital Resorts.

Cordell has been a voice in the timeshare industry since 2002 when she began as a guest service representative at Club Ocean Villas in Ocean City, Maryland which has been managed by Defender Resorts since 2000. She was quickly promoted to a Regional Director of Operations, overseeing resorts throughout Florida and the Caribbean until moving to Washington D.C. to become the Director of Member Services for the American Resort Development Association (ARDA). In 2016, she returned to Defender Resorts to oversee resorts in South Carolina, Florida, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina and Tennessee.

New business operations will be based at National Hospitality Group’s corporate office in Myrtle Beach, where its subsidiary companies are located.



Jan LaPointe has been promoted to Vice President of Strategic Sales Planning — North America for AMResorts. This newly created position will support AMResort’s growth efforts as the company moves towards its goal to reach 100 resorts by 2020 in nearly 30 destinations. LaPointe will report to Claudio Zboznovits, Vice President of Global Sales and Business Development.

LaPointe recently celebrated her 15th anniversary with AMResorts, and has more than 30 years of experience in the tourism industry. In this role, she will develop and execute strategic retail sales plans to leverage the travel professional channel, while leading consortia relationship growth across North America. She will support management of the daily efforts of the U.S. and Canada sales teams, including working closely with the retail, wholesale and tour operator communities to ensure proper positioning, development and growth of AMResorts’ six award-winning brands. In addition, LaPointe will continue to lead the company’s sales and marketing efforts in the Canadian market.



Tom MacTavish has joined True Incentive as Sales Executive. In his new role, Tom will report to Drew Brittain, Vice President of Sales.

Tom has more than 25 years of Marketing Management experience and success in the Timeshare Industry. He has developed and managed inbound and outbound vacation package sales and well as worked directed in-house marketing programs.

Tom used the True Incentive products in his previous position with Great Destinations. This familiarity with the consistent success of the company’s marketing incentives has allowed him to fully understand how these programs work within a marketing budget and how successful they can be in timeshare and vacation club lead generation programs.
