November 26, 2010 — It is worth reminding those far removed from the trenches (sales centers) this Thanksgiving weekend that every business day of the year an almost magical event repeats itself in Timeshare sales centers the world over that separates the sales staffs from their developers, executive management, admin personnel, attorney(s), lenders, accountants, etc.
And that event is that Timeshare sales professionals meet a total, often mistrusting stranger and within hours those reps are able to convert many of those highly suspicious sales guests and have them agree to become a timeshare owner, sign a binding purchase contract (with high interest), leave a sizeable deposit and be legally obligated to a (mostly) lifetime of financial commitments and obligations.
That is no mean feat and these timeshare sales reps are to be applauded because they live in the one-call-sales-world which is a universe all to itself. The fact of the matter is that in the kingdom of sales these professionals are as rare as precious metals or GIA certified D-Flawless Diamonds.
In fact, dating back to our industry origins if it were not for these one-call professionals this industry would likely not exist today. From those who work at ARDA (American Resort Development Association) all the way down that proverbial food chain to the security guard at the front gate everyone, and I do mean everyone, owes all these, past, present and future sales professionals a great deal of respect, gratitude and admiration!
I would be remiss this Holiday Season if I didn’t recognize and appreciate everyone else’s contribution to the sales process (including that security guard). But at the end of the day it is the timeshare sales professionals who make that ‘Miracle on Main Street’ happen and who are in a class to themselves. And to you all I thank you for what you have and will continue to accomplish for this great industry.
