REMEMBER: It has been said that if we really want a true friend and look among those we ‘hang’ with it is soon discovered there aren’t many around.
Acquaintances, on the other hand, are abundant. But most everyone knows that those good folks are just that, an ‘acquaintance’, and although we’ll chit and chat about some common interests, etc. there is no real bond.
That is not necessarily a bad thing, it is just the way it is. But when a TS rep and a sales guest get together and if things go ‘right’ all too often the prospect merely thinks of their rep as an ‘acquaintance’ and may still harbor thoughts that all sales reps, at their ‘core’, are likely to be a guileful person to boot!
It really isn’t difficult to build a ‘bond’ (friendship) with each sales guest as long as the rep does a little probing into the prospect’s lifestyle, work, family, likes and dislikes, etc. and then in an honest and genuine manner briefly relates to that prospect.
That is not to be confused with being phony because too often that is easily ‘read’ by the prospect. But when the sale guest senses a genuine bond with their rep that leads to them feeling at least a basic ‘friendship’ has been established, and when the savvy TS Pros make that happen during each presentation, they’ll laugh all the way to the bank.
