DENVER, CO (June 23, 2011) — Exclusive Resorts (www.exclusiveresorts.com), the world’s leading luxury destination club, has announced the appointment of Philippe Bourguignon to its management team as CEO. Current Exclusive Resorts CEO Jeff Potter will remain with the company as a member of its board of directors.
“Philippe is one of the most highly regarded executives in the global hospitality industry,” said Exclusive Resorts Chairman and majority owner Steve Case. “His track record as a leader and innovator will enable Exclusive Resorts to build on the strong platform that Jeff Potter has put in place, to fully capitalize on the company’s many expansion opportunities. We are pleased to have an executive of Philippe’s caliber take the reins at Exclusive Resorts at this exciting juncture.”
Bourguignon joins the company with an unparalleled resume from his work with leading hospitality brands throughout the world. Highlights of his career include serving as chairman and CEO of Euro Disney, chairman and CEO of Club Med, president of Accor for the Asia/Pacific region and executive vice president for North America, and vice chairman of Revolution Places and CEO of Miraval Resorts. He has also served as the co-CEO of the Davos-based World Economic Forum and as a member of the board of directors of a variety of companies including eBay and Zipcar. In addition to this role as CEO at Exclusive Resorts, Bourguignon joined the company’s board of directors earlier this year, so is already familiar with the Club.
“I am delighted to join the passionate community of Club members, employees, and partners that distinguish Exclusive Resorts as the very best way to enjoy consistently exceptional luxury vacations and experiences,” commented Bourguignon. “And I consider myself fortunate to be arriving at this time, with the benefit of Jeff Potter’s stewardship of the Club over the past several years, which has placed the company in a strong position for growth and innovation.”
“Philippe’s background and extensive global network make him an ideal choice to lead Exclusive Resorts during its next phase of growth,” added Potter. “I look forward to working with him as a member of the board of directors to help the Club realize its bright future and deliver even better luxury experiences for members and their families.”
Bourguignon’s appointment continues an exceptionally strong 2011 for Exclusive Resorts, during which it has been named a “Best of the Best” winner by Robb Report for the fifth time, unveiled legendary St Andrews, Scotland as a new destination through a strategic alliance with The Eden Club, introduced a new suite of membership options to provide more choice and flexibility when joining the Club, and doubled its year-to-date new membership sales through May over 2010.
