VUOKATTI, Finland (February 25, 2013) — Angry Birds Activity Park in Holiday Club Saariselkä opened its doors for customers on Saturday 16 February 2013. Besides Finnish and international holiday makers, families with children are expected to visit the Angry Birds park and Saariselkä spa from across the Lapland. The 1,300 sq. m. size park takes up to 500 visitors at the same time. 50,000 customers are expected to visit the park yearly.
The third Angry Birds Activity Park was completed in Saariselkä at a rapid pace. Angry Birds Parks were opened in Vuokatti, near Katinkulta, and Kuusamon Tropiikki in last December. The fourth park will open next summer in Lappeenranta in Holiday Club Saimaa.
In Saariselkä the park is built around Angry Birds Space theme. The specialty of the park is the long, exciting Adventure Track. There are different kinds of functional points along the track: climbing, balancing across a gorge, sliding down a rope track etc. There are ten activity points at the park, in which people of all ages can enjoy sporty making. Both young and older visitors enjoy themselves at the ball game rink and with the shooting game. There is an own playing area for smaller children: an adventure structure with its thrilling tunnel and slides goes up to over 5 meters. As in Kuusamon Tropiikki, also in Saariselkä there is a game area “Bad Biggies”, especially interesting to the youth. The park is finished by Angry Birds Shop, where you can find for instance your favourite soft toys.
The main idea behind Angry Birds Activity Parks is to offer physical doing for people of all ages: the rides won’t move people but people will move the rides. This is combined with the virtual world familiar of the Angry Birds Games – playing is natural and activating. Smaller children enjoy themselves at their own area, the youth is interested in the adventure track and the game area and parents can have a rest at the rest stop. Angry Birds Activity Parks bring also more content to the job welfare and conference travel. There is sweat and laughter coming out of adults as well with the help of guided activities.
Angry Birds Parks are the result of the cooperation of three Finnish companies. The birds that Rovio made world known, the playgrounds by Lappset and the unique knowledge that Holiday Club has on holidays generated the concept of indoor amusement parks in connection with spa hotels. It is highly important for Holiday Club to offer diverse activities for different target groups all year round. Besides Finnish holidaymakers, international visitors are expected to visit the Angry Birds Activity Parks. In addition to Russia, Sweden and Norway, interest has been shown also from Middle-Europe and Asia, for instance from China and Japan.
