Chapel Hill, NC (May 27, 2013) — Meeting planners have a new option for their clients wishing to convene in Aruba: Divi Resorts has completed the renovation and expansion of Alhambra, a multi-use complex of meeting space, dining, shopping, gambling, entertainment and lounging. The now 50,000 square foot indoor/outdoor complex plays to the increasingly cosmopolitan tastes of today’s Aruba visitors, making it well suited for successful meetings and conventions.
The ballroom at the Alhambra offers a total of 3240 square foot of meeting space, accommodating up to 280 in theatre seating or a stand-up reception. The space also can be divided into three separate spaces for smaller functions (up to 90 for a reception or round seating) or sections can be combined to accommodate larger events. Located on the second floor of the Alhambra casino, the beautifully designed space together with the Divi banquet catering staff offer guests a diverse array of events, from simple BBQs on the open-air patio to more elaborate celebratory affairs.
“With the remaking of our Alhambra complex, Divi has enhanced its standing as a meeting destination on Aruba,” said EJ Schanfarber, president of Divi Resorts. The space can be used in conjunction with venue space at Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort and at Divi Aruba Phoenix, to host a variety of conventions and meetings. There are both indoor and outdoor venues available at both properties, ranging from the open-air Pure Beach restaurant and lounge on the beachfront at Divi Phoenix to the meeting rooms at both locations.
AT THE CASINO –
The Alhambra casino added 2,000 square feet and now encompasses 15,000 square feet with an expansion to 483 slots and 20 table games. As part of the modernization process, all the slots are the latest in casino equipment and provide a more Vegas-style gambling experience.
OUTDOOR PLAZA –
Divi Resorts’ real estate holdings adjacent to Alhambra enabled it to construct a massive new “outdoor living” plaza beyond the meeting and destination complex. Fully landscaped with some areas sheltered from Aruba’s wind and sun, the area includes water features, lighting effects, table and chairs and kiosks, making it a pleasant place for meeting breaks.
THE PARKING –
Parking spaces were added at Alhambra, bringing total accommodations to 327.
According to Schanfarber, Divi has been working to upgrade its meeting facilities at all of its resorts, from adding the Peter Hughes Meeting Room at the Divi Flamingo Beach on Bonaire to its three banquet rooms at Divi Little Bay on St. Maarten. Each salon there features high-speed Internet and flexible room layouts. The largest of the three, the Great Bay Salon, accommodates 100 in theatre style seating or a reception.
