August 23, 2013 — I’ve been suggesting for some time that people have sort of gone wild watching videos and it seems the Nielsen ratings Company has now confirmed my suspicions with their “Nielsen Cross-Platform Report – 1Q 2013”. In a nutshell consumers are watching “vids” at record breaking numbers as they demand to be entertained as well as to be kept informed, current and up to date.
So Here’s The Scoop: Just in North America (Canada, USA & Mexico) scores of millions of consumers across all demographics seem to have developed an unquenchable, insatiable, ravenous 24/7/365 need to watch video-formatted content, some on their
TV home entertainment systems and about half doing so online using one of their wireless devices such as smart phones, tablets, laptops and even on those large, clumsy once-very-popular ancient desktop contraptions.
No need to pour over all the numbers/stats today because we are all busy watching vids — which should be proof positive. That and the fact that everywhere you look — whether people (consumers) are driving their cars, walking down the street, strolling through the mall while shopping, dining at a restaurant, at home, sitting in the doctor’s office or at the checkout stand at the grocery store, etc. — millions are staring at their handhelds watching “stuff”.
This is the time, like never before, for all companies in our industry to grasp that reality, recognize the market, embrace the technology, reap the rewards, join the revolution and immediately develop a brief, fun and informative video presentation highlighting their company, the existing and new products and services they provide as well as the career opportunities available within their company, etc.
True, you must have an imagination to “get it” which brings me to Mark Zuckerberg. You know him. He’s the college dropout who was a co-founder and is now the current President and CEO of Facebook — with Mark having a net worth in the comfy $16 Billion (that’s a B) neighborhood.
Now it seems Mark has another idea and to get the ball rolling this time around he has used, in part, a short video presentation that you must watch by checking out the big mind-blowing opening page at Internet.org (“Every one of us. Everywhere. Connected.”.
Indeed, if you did just watch that video presentation and weren’t struck with a notion such as “Wow, that is how my company should present itself…” then, sadly, you will pass up the most magnificent and cost effective marketing and sales tool available to all of mankind throughout history, to date.
On the other hand if that video smacked you upside the head (as it should have) and you’re not still living in the dial-up-era mentality, then just ponder how you could promote your company, your products/services and make that phone ring, get those e-mail/texted messages pouring ‘in’ and — equally important — how you can attract the best of the best, the top talent, the producers in our industry to become team-players and increase your profits.
If you are not sure where to find a trusted budget conscious professional video production company then drop our ad guy Bill Curtis (firstname.lastname@example.org) a note and allow Bill to introduce our new video production capabilities for your review and consideration. You know the adage – if you don’t ask you’ll never know.
And if you already have a video produced remember we can host that video right here ‘Inside The Gate’ AND in our timeshare blog section ‘The GateHouse’ to our global monthly audience, which after 5 years is now approaching 50,000 monthly unique viewers (verifiable).
That would be your “market”, as our audience includes timeshare developers, their executive staffs, sales and marketing professionals, mid-level management (PD’s, DOS’, DOM’s, SM’s), independent consultants and other ancillary timeshare entities.
Good luck out there!
