LAS VEGAS, NV (March 12, 2014) — Diamond Resorts International® (NYSE: DRII), a global leader in the hospitality and vacation ownership industries, announces that Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, North America, Michael Flaskey has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. In this role, Mr. Flaskey will assume responsibility for global sales and marketing operations with a key focus on strategic long range planning, same store organic growth and new sales and marketing initiatives. In addition, he will focus on organizing and aligning global initiatives to efficiently leverage the company’s human capital and infrastructure.
Mr. Flaskey has more than 18 years of vacation ownership sales and marketing leadership experience having held the position of Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, North America for Diamond Resorts International® since December 2010, and was previously Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing East for Starwood Vacation Ownership, Inc. and Wyndham Vacation Ownership.
During Mr. Flaskey’s tenure as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, North America for Diamond Resorts International®, he shifted the traditional marketing and sales model to a highly branded and hospitality-infused process. Using innovation he transformed the company’s marketing and sales approach to a very high-touch upstream engagement model; providing each guest with a true service-first approach to marketing. This process, combined with new product development and strategic merchandising, produced a much larger transaction size. These processes have provided the catalyst for the significant sales growth experienced by the company over the last few years.
