August 1, 2014 — If you are a sales or marketing professional and have ever thought about working in a tropical atmosphere then this week’s column just might be your ticket to paradise. So pay close attention because time truly does fly by, real opportunities are rare, and the next upcoming high-season south of the USA border in beautiful Mexico will be here before you can say Popocatépetl, Tlalnepantla or Nezahualcoyotl. 😛
So Here’s The Scoop: A while back I wrote a piece about the slime ball, low rent, knuckle dragging heat-merchants working in places like the Dominican, Mexico, etc. and as a result a well-known and established developer contacted me. We began a conversation and exchanged many e-mails and a couple phone calls discussing the realities of marketing and selling slices of Paradise in Mexico.
Among all the topics that we chatted about we also discussed the reasons why heat-merchants needlessly lie through their teeth to sell what are most often magnificent 5-Star resorts with all the bells/whistles and the timeshare plans associated with them. We both agreed that the heat-merchants approach is not only unnecessary it loses more sales than are made and their attitudes, lifestyles, etc. are the rotten apples that pollute the whole timeshare barrel.
Especially considering that unlike many parts of the USA sales guests already vacationing in places like Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Cozumel, Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo, Mazatlan, Manzanillo, etc. have clearly demonstrated (by being there) that they like and/or love to travel (aka: ‘like/use’) – and many of them actually have the financial wherewithal to do so (aka: ‘afford’), and do so often.
Having personally worked in Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean for many years that is especially true during the high season, a time each year when outstanding reps who excel at their trade make ‘bank’ +; and the rest of the year is pure gravy (savings, investments, toys, etc.) not to mention living an incredible lifestyle in Paradise!
First of all, though I have never met this developer F2F I’ve known about the company for many years and what the developer wants to do is to start weeding out the crimesters and troublemakers from the company and, over time, replace them with real professionals who are just that – Pros who have the bona fides and who choose to market/sell clean.
The company is looking to fill many positions including their in-house marketing Pros. And they need a couple outstanding Podium speakers, different levels of sales/marketing management and for the sales line the preference is for strong professional F/B team; although a T/O system is currently in place and it may remain so, at least until they find enough replacements to oust the thugs.
The Developer IS truly fed up with these costly heat-merchants and seeks the Crème de la Crème of marketing/sales professionals to help build a new future for the company.
Of those selected and not already living/working in the area the company will be providing airfare and those who close $175,000.00 (net, clean and pressed) *USD within their first 30 days will receive a cash SPIFF three weeks later equal to the cost of their return airfare. Not too shabby!
Additionally: 60 day housing in a modern fully furnished condo with WiFi & Satellite TV including paid utilities and security will be provided. And that arrangement would continue for the top performers an additional 60 days. Regardless, 30 or 60 days after that period the reps would be required to locate and secure their own permanent housing at their expense – and one option will be to rent the existing condo provided by the developer.
Note: Remember, you must have the bonafides that are verifiable and your YTD STATS must be impressive to be considered for this opportunity.
You will be working in a beach front sales center 6 days each week from 7:45 A.m. (for a brief morning meeting) until around 1:00 P.M.
You will have two opportunities each day to meet sales guests and generate an income.
The first tour flow begins at 8:15 A.M. sharp and the second one starts at precisely 11:00 A.M.
The ‘wheel’ is a standard & constant rotation. No love line, no favoritism, etc.
The developer will assist with all working permits, etc. and though the company will pay those fees upfront (on your behalf) you will be required to pay those back and they will be deducted from your 4th paycheck.
Pay is weekly and income is taxable under Mexico law – more on that during the interview. Your country of domicile may have tax obligations as well.
There is upward mobility as this is NOT a ‘one-trick-pony’ resort, but no drama is sought nor will any be tolerated.
Note: All earned commissions are paid in full – again, weekly – and though there are no hold-backs (reserve funds) anyone hired who then willfully outright lies and/or misrepresents or distorts the developer’s 25-year RTU plan to any (even one) sales guest will be immediately terminated (aka: fired on the spot) and they (you) will forfeit any earned commissions, SPIFFS and bonuses, etc.
That is the basics and because ITG, GateHouse and my columns are read by thousands of reps around the world each week including those living/playing in Mexico, and to avoid a walk-out by anyone currently on staff I have been retained by the developer to act as a conduit so that the developer can remain, for now, anonymous.
As such, I will forward all resumes, letters of introduction and/or inquires, etc. on to the developer. So anyone interested in this opportunity needs to e-mail me their CV (resume), etc. and in the subject box write “Viva Mexico”.
The developer has assured me that the company will review all that are submitted; and contact those applicants that are of interest.
Note: All age (adults only) and marital statuses, etc. are encouraged to apply but be advised that I will not answer any questions about this opportunity so there’s no need to ask — though I promise I will confirm receipt of each resume submitted to me, and from that point on I am out of the equation and it’s between you and the developer.
Lastly, the commissions, SPIFFS and achievable bonuses are very attractive and in the ‘biz’ it just doesn’t get any better than working for a great developer at a beach front location, breaking-bread with and meeting sales guests who already (mostly) love the area, all the while (you) making a damn good living to boot!
So if this opportunity is of interest to you I highly recommend you initiate the process and send me your CV etc. poste haste (aka: this minute – right now – esta minuto – ahora mismo)!
And you might want to do so as if you are applying ‘in-person’ and be, well, “dressed to impress”, so to speak. Put your best foot forward, maybe include a photo (not required) and surely exclude any hyperbole & simply conduct yourself as the true professional you are anyway.
Hell, just the thought of living/working/playing in Mexico again is getting me aroused; maybe I’ll shoot off my resume, too. Viva Mexico!
Good luck out there!
