With over a dozen clients in the Los Cabos area, the timeshare reputation management firm of Reputation Maxx was extremely concerned when the category 4 Hurricane Odile made landfall on Cabo San Lucas. As reports of the devastation rolled in from the mass media, members and family grew ever more concerned about their friends and family currently in Los Cabos, the state of their investments at the resorts and about the staff members that are so beloved as well.
Reputation Maxx is happy to report that all of the resorts that it represents have communicated that any and all guests are already home with their families and are all safe. In addition, all staff members are accounted for. All of the staff members at the resorts did a truly spectacular job of ensuring every guest’s safety, following the strict safety protocols that have been put into place for a natural disaster such as this.
It is important to note that while many of the poorer parts of Los Cabos sustained massive damages, the resorts themselves faired well, given the magnitude of the storm that hit. Superficial damage such as broken windows, downed trees, dispersed sand and more were sustained by many of the resorts in the area, however, most of the resorts did not suffer any real structural damage.
Since the storm passed, all hands have been on deck with staff working tirelessly to restore their resorts to being operational once again. With the high season fast approaching, efforts have been frantic to repair and fix everything as quickly as possible to welcome guests back to Cabo, a city where tourism is the main industry in the area.
“The resilience of the Mexican people is truly incredible,” said Walter Halicki, the CEO of Reputation Maxx, who also has a residence in Cabo San Lucas. “They have all pulled together not only to repair the damage that the storm did, but to help the local community and those in need.”
“A situation such as this is one of the main reasons why resorts really need to invest in online reputation management,” Halicki added. “As soon as the storm had hit and afterwards, concerned members took to social media to ask the resorts how much damage had been done, if everyone was safe and a whole slew of other questions. It is so important to update your members to let them know how the resort faired, what they need to do if they were scheduled to come to the resort in the near future, and how they can help.”
An open communication line between a resort and its members during a time of crisis is imperative in a time when people are worried about their investments. The reputation experts at Reputation Maxx have worked diligently with all of its clients in Los Cabos in order to inform their membership basis about what they need to do moving forward. This has included posting on their social media accounts when the power was out in the aftermath of the storm, crafting e-mail blasts to send to members, putting out press releases and so much more.
The good news is that the airport in Cabo is set to open up at the end of October, allowing visitors to once again vacation in Cabo. Once flights are allowed back, Reputation Maxx looks forward to visiting with each and every one of its clients.
“I’m also looking forward to going back down there to not only check on my own house, but to see our valued clients once again,” said Reputation Maxx’s President, Walter Halicki Jr. “I have lived in Cabo for 17 years and there is no other place like it on Earth. Cabo will always be in my heart. We are doing our best to support the community in Cabo as well.”
“Our charity that we support in Cabo is Amigos de los Niños, a non-profit that provides medical assistance to children from families that would otherwise not be able to pay for their care,” adds Halicki. “In this time of need, this is an even more important service.
