April 10, 2015 — Search engine results page (SERP) ranking is critical for most businesses and it’s becoming more important as the days pass. Yet many companies in our industry that must advertise online do so (e.g.) like the owner of an old single story motel built during the 1940’s, hoping that the travel weary ‘drive-by’ public in need of a good night’s sleep will respond to their barely readable sign out front – promoting “free direct dial local phone calls”.
So Here’s The Scoop: Still other companies in our industry wait each year to promote their company, products and services by (e.g.) attending the annual American Resort Development Association (ARDA) convention and setting up as a vendor/merchant, etc. As of this writing only 98 ‘vendors’ will participate this year in the ARDA Exhibit Hall – open for business for about 12 hours.
Attending ARDA as a vendor/merchant is definitely a wise decision even though costs can be many thousands of dollars to travel to and set up a company booth/display for a one-time event. And with time constraints and often-limited audience there is no guarantee the desired results will be achieved.
Whether a company is displaying products & services during any convention or promoting their companies in other venues there are a few principles that are absolute in order to maximize the probability of success.
Two of the more important rules are exposure to a specific (niche) market and the frequency of the promotion. Attending a convention or placing an ad here, there, now and then, rarely works and is often very expensive.
And that brings me to the Google ranking of Inside The Gate.com (ITG) and how ‘new’ people (aka: eyeballs, readers, etc.) interested in our industry find ITG, which is by doing an online search of timeshare topics relative to ‘their’ interests.
For example – among our 100,000 (average) monthly readers over the past 6 years, of all the search terms that led many new ‘eyeballs’ to ITG one of the most common terms used is when they search Google for “Timeshare News”.
When they do, out of the millions of results ITG is the first “organic” listing on Google’s 1st SERP (page). And that is important because an organic ranking is specific and relative to the readers actual interests and in that category ITG is ranked #1 by Google!
Many new ITG readers will reverse the search terms and instead google “News Timeshare” – and, again, out of millions of results ITG is ranked #1 by Google.
Other new ITG readers also find us by searching for “Timeshare Blogs” or “Timeshare Blog” and, again, ITG is ranked #1 by Google.
And the same is true when readers reverse their search terms and input “Blogs Timeshare” or “Blog Timeshare” – ITG is also on page one & 1st place of the organic results!
