DENARAU ISLAND, FIJI (April 9, 2015) — Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Denarau Island has reached a significant milestone, celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2015.
The 5.5-hectare beachfront resort was the first in the Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific (formerly Trendwest) portfolio, for the use of Owners and guests of the WorldMark South Pacific Club.
The property, located on a 200m stretch of beach on the beautifully-manicured holiday paradise of Denarau Island, was purchased in 1998 and opened for operation in March, 2000.
It has since grown to become one of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific’s most popular destinations, with the resort running at 90% occupancy rates irrespective of season or climate. More than 38,000 people chose the resort for their holidays in 2014.
President and Managing Director of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific, Barry Robinson, said the 15-year anniversary was a significant achievement.
“We have spent the past 15 years making holiday dreams come true and it is exciting to be able to celebrate not one but two milestones, with WorldMark South Pacific Club also welcoming its 50,000th Owner this year,” Mr Robinson said.
“Wyndham Resort Denarau Island is known for its warm, Fijian hospitality, fantastic facilities and exceptional service, which have made it a favourite among Owners and guests for many years. Consistent high occupancy rates are testament to the resort’s popularity and high level of service excellence.”
In 2013, Wyndham Resort Denarau Island underwent a FJD$50 million (AUD$30 million) redevelopment, with the addition of 63 spacious and luxurious styles of accommodations ranging from one and two-bedroom deluxe apartments to presidential villas with private plunge pools overlooking the ocean.
Further enhancements included an expansive pool area refurbishment with a poolside bar and café, Maravu Adults’ Retreat Pool and Bar; the expansion and redevelopment of the resort reception and lobby and kids’ club; plus the relocation and construction of the new Mamacita Mexican Restaurant. Wyndham Resort Denarau Island also boasts a newly constructed restaurant, cafe and bar on a white sandy private beach.
The resort recently qualified as a 2015 Interval International Premier Resort®, an annual distinction which identifies the property as significantly exceeding Interval International’s high affiliation standards and delivering outstanding vacation experiences.
It was also honoured with both the World’s Best Timeshare Resort and International Project of Excellence at the 2014 International Perspective Awards and a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2014.
The resort employs 144 operational staff and another 104 work locally on sales and marketing. Several dedicated staff have been with the company from the start and are also celebrating 15 years of service.
“It is the support and dedication of staff that make this resort such a success and we could not have reached this important milestone without their hard work and commitment to consistently providing excellent service,” Mr Robinson said.
Wyndham Resort Denarau Island works closely with the local community, providing medical supplies to traditional landowners in Narewa Village. It also assists local schools with building materials and uniforms as well as donating food vouchers to women and children’s shelter Loloma Homes.
