RIVIERA MAYA, MX (October 14, 2015) — Because of its exemplary application of policies in favor of the environment, harmonically integrated to a luxury ambiance that satisfies even the most demanding travelers, Hacienda Tres Ríos has been nominated by Food and Travel México magazine to compete as best ecological hotel in Mexico. Food and Travel México is a subsidiary of Food and Travel England, a benchmark in the world of tourism and gastronomy in Great Britain.
Last year, Food and Travel México invited its readers and listeners to participate in the first edition of the Food and Travel Reader Awards in Mexico and, through over 15,500 votes, awards were presented to the public favorites in the travel and food categories. Readers and listeners have the last say in this process to choose the best of the best.
Hacienda Tres Ríos has looked after every detail: from design to construction to the operation and implementation of sustainable policies. Germán Fayad Sierra, Director General of Operations at Sunset World Resorts, indicated that the resort is getting involved with energy saving activities, social projects that help the local community, lowering of energy consumption, recycling and reusing input products. “Besides, Hacienda Tres Ríos Resort has participated in mangrove reforestation, protection of the environment and in creating awareness among guests so they can adopt an exemplary way of life”, he added.
Mr. Fayad added that “ecotourism” and “environmental care” are concepts that are currently in vogue and the market trends indicate a meteoric rise of this type of tourism. “The importance that has been given to environmental protection and to establishing social responsibility policies is vital to the concept of “responsible tourism”, because it is a practice that will positively impact the next generation”, he stated.
The Food and Travel México awards is celebrating its second edition in 2015 and there are two categories: Food, with eight subcategories that include best restaurant, best chef and best newcomer chef, among other awards, and the Travel segment with 13 subcategories, which include best destination in Mexico and magical village, ecological, urban and beach hotels. The Food and Travel Awards voters have until October 30th to submit their vote through the page foodandtravel.mx/awards/votar; the results will be announced on November 18.
Located inside a 132-hectare Natural Park in the Riviera Maya, Hacienda Tres Ríos is an All Inclusive luxury resort located only 45 minutes south of the Cancun International Airport and 15 minutes from Playa del Carmen. Here, Mexico’s past blends with its present and Mayan and Mexican traditions converge to create truly unique experiences.
