Miami, FL (December 9, 2015) — Palace Resorts, the company that sets the standard in five-star, all-inclusive resort accommodations, in proud to announce the unveiling of “Casa Hogar,” an orphanage for local Mexican children, spearheaded by the company’s philanthropic organization, The Palace Foundation. On November 26, 2015, Mexican government officials along with Palace Resorts executives participated in an inaugural ribbon cutting ceremony, celebrating the upcoming opening of the facility which will provide housing and care for nearly 100 local children.
Managed and operated by The Palace Foundation, Casa Hogar will commence operations in January 2016. Casa Hogar’s primary objective is to provide at-risk children in need the opportunity to have shelter, a formal education and healthcare. The Palace Foundation began the construction of Casa Hogar in February 2015 after an agreement with the state of Quintana Roo was finalized to operate, recruit and train professionals and volunteers who will participate in the management of the facility.

The house is comprised of eight villas with a capacity to accommodate 96 children ranging from 11 months to 11 years of age, divided into groups of 12 residents per villa. Complete with an administrative building which includes reception, offices and an auditorium with the capacity for up to 100 people, Casa Hogar also features three classrooms, a counseling center, a medical office and a special needs area. The facility also features a chapel, playroom and computer center. Outdoor areas consist of a farm, garden, swimming pool, multiple green areas and a covered basketball court. The service areas consist of a kitchen, warehouses and a dining room.
Since its establishment in 2004, the Palace Foundation has been fully committed to its mission of promoting the actions of its five committees. So far in 2015, the organization has awarded 75 scholarships through the Education Committee, fulfilled more than 125 dreams for terminally ill children through the Dreams Committee, and has provided healthcare to 3,700 people through different types of therapies for the Social Welfare Committee. Thanks to their partnerships with 15 health organizations, both public and private, the Health Committee has been able to provide more than 1,611 locals with medical care. The Environmental Committee has assisted with the protection of 2,221 turtle nests, 250,624 turtle eggs and 152,568 sea turtle hatchling releases.
