Mexico City (December 19, 2016) — JOYÀ – the one-of-a-kind theatrical culinary experience by Cirque du Soleil, celebrated two successful years at Vidanta Riviera Maya with an exclusive masquerade themed cocktail party. The first and only permanent show outside of the United States, JOYÀ combines performing arts with gastronomy in a unique concept inspired entirely by Mexican culture, having earned international recognition as one of the most popular shows in Mexico, consistently playing to a sold out house.
The anniversary party was preceded by a red carpet, where Mexican celebrities including Sherlyn, Los Rumberos de Massachusetts, Eddy Vilard, Benito Santos, Claudio Limón and Géraldine Bázan, graced the step-and-repeat wearing eye-catching masks that gave life to the party. Other notable attendees included Yasmine Khalil, president of 45 DEGREES from Cirque du Soleil; Richard Dagenais, the creator of JOYÀ; and Norma Preciado, the Commercial Director of Cirque du Soleil JOYÀ for Grupo Vidanta.
Referring to the celebration, Yasmine Khalil stated, “The whole Cirque du Soleil team is extremely proud to be celebrating JOYÀ’s second year anniversary. This first class show, which continues to grow, has rapidly become a must-experience for all those who visit Riviera Maya. We are very grateful for our partner, Vidanta, and for the trust they have relied on us.”
Attendees viewed the original JOYÀ production, while enjoying the prestigious Champagne Mercier dinner tasting menu consiting of international dishes such as beef steak braised with marrow and a JOYÀ toast, local dishes including herbal salad with local filet and Mayan chilies, and vegetarian specialties such as portobello confit or quinoa risotto, tapioca and thyme vegetables. The experience was followed by a spectacular after party at Nektar, the Yucatecan eatery and lounge at Vidanta Riviera Maya.
Shaped like a palm tree that supports its leaves in the water, the Cirque du Soleil Theater at Vidanta Riviera Maya hosts 600 attendees daily. Since its dubut in November 2014, JOYÀ has hosted more than 400,000 people, continually positioning itself as one of the most desireable travel experiences in Riviera Maya.
A true sensory experience that captivates the audience from beginning to end with magnificent performances, JOYÀ makes it possible for guests to immerse themselves in the intimate setting, exquisiteness of the dishes and beauty of the surroundings.
