ike many of you I can hardly believe we’re about to put 2017 to ‘bed’. As I have occasionally written it seems the older I get the faster time goes by. When I was a child I often hoped for a future date or event like Christmas morning to ‘hurry-up’ & arrive. However as the years have passed it wouldn’t bother me one bit these days if time slowed down a notch or two and that notion includes how quickly my annual expedition rolls around each year at this time when I head off to one of my favorite places for some R & R – and this year it is, once again, Mexico!
So Here’s The Scoop: That’s right Damas y Caballeros. Depending on when you read this I’m either heading to or have arrived at an undisclosed resort location situated within one of my favorite communities south of the U.S. border to enjoy the final weeks of 2017. Yep – it is time for some resting, relaxing, fishing & golfing while soaking up the rays and ‘talking story’ with some long-time amigos y amigas who live, work and play in Mexico.
Naturally I will consume mass quantities of foods with those delicious sauces, including the world’s best fish tacos etc. Oh, and in case anyone here learns of my true identity, snaps some photos of me and posts ‘em via social media, etc. – for the record and purely for medicinal purposes, now and then I will be consuming one or two Pacificos y tequila whilst I’m a happy go lucky turisto enjoying another beach-side paradise.
Post my hiatus this year the plan is to be back at my keyboard the first week of 2018 so until then I leave you all with a bit of philosophical humor that I first heard from the mouth of an Oscar-winning film producer who is also an actor, a writer & stand-up comedian with, IMO, a rather unique style – Mr. Steven Wright. Take it away, Steve.
“Two babies were born on the same day at the same hospital.
They lay there and looked at each other.
Their families came and took them away.
Eighty (80) years later, by a bizarre coincidence, they lay in the same hospital, on their deathbeds, next to each other.
One of them looked at the other and said, “So, what did you think?”
Feliz Navidad y Próspero Año Nuevo
