Ah! Have you ever been experienced?
Well, I have

How many of you have ever read the lyrics to Jimi Hendrix’s great song. Surprised? 🙂

So what’s the Scoop?. Well, getting experienced is going to be a whole lot easier in the future if vacation rental companies like Airbnb have anything to say about it. Is it a threat to the hotel/timeshare/exchange businesses? Scoop du Jour: Experiences

Instead of my usual stats report from Harper’s Magazine, this month I thought I’d share something different. These numbers come to you courtesy of Stephen Miller at Yes! Magazine’s “The Page That Counts”:

  • Total number of vacation days unused by American employees in 2016: 662 million
  • Percent of men who used all their allotted vacation days: 48
  • Of women: 44
  • Average number of years the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans outlive the poorest 1 percent: 10 to 15
  • Amount, in added benefits from Social Security and other social programs, that an affluent American receives from that life expectancy inequality: $130,000
  • Added income women working full-time would have earned in 2016 had they been paid the same hourly wage as their male counterparts: $42 billion
  • Increase in median cost of a single family home in Texas between 2010 and 2017: $90,000
  • Change in Texas minimum wage between 2010 and 2017: $0
  • Weekly hours a Texan working at the minimum wage would need to work to afford a two-bedroom rental: 117
  • Number of states in which working 40 hours a week at minimum wage is enough to pay for a two-bedroom rental: 0
  • Rank of Texas among states with most workers earning at or below minimum wage: 1

The Global Networking Experience, commonly known as GNEX Conference, will be holding its annual timeshare convention on February 26 – 28, 2018, in Miami, FL, on the world’s first mega-yacht venue, the $40 million, 228ft SeaFair Grand Luxe that recently completed a further $10 million renovation to provide a truly unique event venue that boasts more than 22,000 square feet of meeting space.

In addition to some spectacular social events onboard the mega-yacht, event organizers have now revealed that the evening event scheduled for 27th February will be called “The EPIC Party” as it is being held at the luxurious waterfront Kimpton EPIC, Miami.

Said one wag on hearing the news, “Had to chuckle — the timeshare industry is facing challenges that could sink it. But there’s a HUGE PARTY on a yacht!” 🙁

Badda BOOM!

I DON’T BELIEVE IT FOR ONE SECOND! In that same report they also say that:

“The timeshare industry still continues to attract new owners for three core reasons”; one being, to save money on future vacations.” Give me a break!

    Fluff, and outdated at that.
